Entei

Entei is a large, carnivorous predator, native to the large mountain ranges west of Mount Silver, in the Johto region, and rarely seen in any other. This rare mammilian pokemon is peculiar in that little is known about it, despite it's enormous size. Estimates range to around 2.1 meters in height from the few scientific studies on the beast, and until fairly recently, it was believed to be a mythical deity, associated with seismic and volcanic activity.
 In 1999, the first serious investigations were launched, funded largely by the Regional Johto University, to investigate the habits of the elusive species; Initial investigations were succesful in pinpointing the extense of Entei's natural habitat, its regular diet, and determining certain physiological traits. However, a major breakthrough came as recently as early 2010, in the form of the very first, tagged Entei, nicknamed Brass, as a reference to Entei's mythical origins in the ancient Brass Tower. Brass allowed the researchers to locate its territory, hideout, feeding habits and other such information, allowing a clearer window into the species life.

Entei is a hyper carnivore, preying on the large mega fauna of the Johto region, though has been known to exploit the abundance of berries in the region; It is an ambush predator and occasional scavenger, exploiting its massive size and explosive accelerating speed to hunt and intimidate other pokemon. A solitary animal, Entei's habitat is defined by large mountainous areas, and sorrounding forests, which it defends with extreme prejudice from other Entei's, with the exception of mating season in spring. the extense of each territory is unknown, and largely depends on the availability of prey in any particular moment and season, which, coupled by the dangerousness of the steep mountain ranges, makes it very difficult to assess the number of it's species.

Physiologically, Entei is a very peculiar species; Its head is covered in red and yellow quill like fur, forming a star like appearance beyond its muzzle. It's body, and particularly it's neck is covered by a very thick fur and mane respectively, the latter serves as an insulator in extreme  cold winters, and as a display of health and strength for female and rival Entei. Its back fur is believed to serve a similar purpose. One of the odder features of its physiology is it's back quills, sturdier versions of its facial fur; Information is still lacking in this regard, but it is believed to have a similar function to its mane, and to a similar Johto predator,  Typhlosion

In Johto popular culture, Entei is a highly regarded being, it's scarcity, power and habitat location have lend it to several myths. As it stays away from mostly crowded towns, and frequently seems to be uninterested in fairly small prey, like humans, It's appearance tends to signify some significant event, like volcanic and seismic activity, or food scarcity caused by long periods of drought, though these tend to be very rare. It's appearance lends itself fairly well to this mystification, as it's back quills and fur resemble a volcanic eruption, together with a pyroclastic flow, as such, its behavior, appearance and habitat cause several older cultures to consider Entei a "minor" God, along with the other legendaries asociated with Johto. Iconographic representations of Entei, show it with black cuffs on its legs, juxtoposing its wild behavior, to express an ideal of chaotic freedom. This of course is not a natural depiction, because what kind of animal has cuffs on its legs, come on, thats stupid.

Girafarig, is a medium/large sized herbivore pokemon, also native to the Johto region. It feeds primarily on shrubs, bushes, and low hanging fruit and berries. It is fairly common in the skirts of the Mountain sides and is frequently seen in the forests near the Lake of Rage. Besides it's great speed, it's second form of defense is a dark, predator head like tail, which is meant to scare or otherwise confuse predators. As seen in the above representation, Entei has decided to not deal with Girafarigs bullshit.
